Indiana University student stabbed on bus because she is Asian

An 18-year-old Asian student at Indiana University was hospitalized after being stabbed numerous times on a bus near the universitys campus in a racially motivated assault.

Billie Davis 54 year old carried out the assault with a folding knife and allegedly said that it "would be one less person to blow up our nation"

The victim and Davis did not interact prior to the attack according to bus surveillance footage.

A person followed davis and notified police then she was taken into custody.

Davis is accused with aggravated violence and attempted murder, both level 1 felonies.

ndiana University Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Multicultural Affairs James Wimbush stated in a statement that "No one should suffer harassment or violence due to their origin, culture or history."

Bloomington Mayor John Hamilton described the action as "not acceptable" and promised that it will be "dealt with accordingly."
